Strengthening and Protecting Resources and Land Rights of Communities in Rural Burma and Thailand
In recent years, national and International development and construction projects have increased in Thailand and Burma. Some of these projects violate the local population’s right to land and natural resources, through forced displacement and the pollution of water and forests for instance. In this project, Fund for Global Human Rights will support local organizations in protecting and promoting Thai and Burmese communities’ rights to land and natural resources.
What the project delivers
Mapping of resource and land rights of local communities, training of village leaders, local authorities and villagers, as well as organizing a regional gathering to share experiences and knowledge.
Why we support this project
Securing equal opportunities to own, control and use land and natural resources reduces economic gap and poverty.
