Productive and Empowered Women Enterprises in Rural Senegal

In Senegal, it is estimated that 70% of the rural households, institutions and small businesses rely on traditional and inefficient energy sources for lighting, cooking and other energy needs. Low access to energy has a severe impact on economic development especially in rural areas. In fact, 46% of the Senegalese live below the poverty line. In this project, Energy 4 Impact will strengthen the entrepreneurial capacity and productivity of women engaged in different activities by giving them access to products with renewable energy. These women will also receive different types of trainings to strengthen their businesses.

What the project delivers

Training and mentorship programmes to women entrepreneurs in Senegal, as well as increasing access to products that are run by renewable energy.

Why we support this project
