Protecting The Climate Through Video Activism
For frontline communities grappling with the impacts of deforestation, voice, visibility, and timely action are paramount. Video is among the most powerful tools that communities have at their disposal to defend their land and their livelihoods; when used effectively and with an eye towards long-term justice, it can amplify stories of abuse, collect important evidence, and increase pressure on governments and corporations.
This project will build a stronger regional movement of frontline communities throughout Latin America to create visual documentation and collect evidence to protect and defend their ancestral lands from deforestation and exploitation, combat climate change, and fight for human rights. The project seeks to shift power dynamics by empowering grassroots communities to shine a spotlight on the realities of climate destruction. By harnessing the power of video and technology to inform, persuade, and mobilize, we will protect vital local ecosystems, our climate, and the rights of vulnerable communities.
The Postcode Foundation supports the project with SEK 5,200,000.
