Buffilusk – quality film for children and young people in hospitals

For many, taking part in culture is a natural part of life, for example by going to the movies. According to the Children’s Convention, all children have the same rights and equal value regardless of geographical and cultural background, religion, and health. For a child or a youth hospitalized for a long period of time, it is not physically possible to participate in different cultural events. But digitalization can enable participation and inclusion! BUFF, The Children and Youth Film Festival, organizes an annual film festival.

During the 2017 festival week, a pilot project was carried out at four hospitals in the Skåne region of Sweden. Using the experience from this project, the BUFF Film Festival will now be available to children and young people in hospitals across Sweden. During the project period, more than 40 films for different age groups will be made available. In addition, the project will feature educational materials, film guides, and additional film related activities. Through interactive technology, children and young people will be able to communicate with other people who are also watching the films.
