Strengthening Humanitarian Efforts in Northern Italy
The project sees the cooperation between Danish Refugee Council, Mixed Migration Center and a strong network of civil society actors in Italy to increase the protection and integration opportunities for people on the move. The project aims at significantly strengthening the humanitarian and protection environment in Northern Italy, specifically in the Regions of Piedmont and Liguria, where mixed migration flows are increasing in attempts to either cross the mountain border or the coastal border far off established routes .
The project consists of a tailored intervention to ensure that refugees and migrants have increased access to regular status and integration opportunities in Italy and do not resort to desperate life choices. The lack of legal aid and social counselling together with insufficient knowledge of mixed migration flows and assistance needs are key gaps in the humanitarian response to refugees and migrants in the regions according to local humanitarian actors. The project is therefore designed specifically to fill these gaps.
The project is supported with 2 045 000 SEK
