Good Health and Well-Being through Sport
The majority of the population in Lesotho live in extreme poverty. People are faced with widespread health challenges, and one quarter of adults are living with HIV. Due to a lack of functioning infrastructure and road safety education, the number of deaths as a result of car related accidents is amongst the highest in the world. In their project, Kick 4 Life seeks to develop an interactive curriculum that uses football as a means to educate children and young people about HIV-prevention, gender equality, and road safety.
Coaches who are already active within Kick 4 Life will be introduced to the new curriculum and pass the information on to young people between the ages of 12-19. Local collaborations with health care institutions and psychologists will also take place. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations will be done in order to review the program, and activities will be implemented with the goal of spreading the model to organizations outside of Lesotho.
