Platform for International Cooperation between Journalists

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) creates tools in the service of collaborative, cross-border investigative reporting that leads to impactful stories. By leveraging and developing powerful technology, journalists can find stories faster, rely on more accurate data, and harness the power of hundreds of journalists looking together at documents to tell a more comprehensive, global story.

This project will allow the ICIJ team to build on the initial success of Datashare, a new platform (funded by the Swedish Postcode Foundation in 2018) that gives journalists the ability to upload and share documents easily and securely. This version of Datashare is only the first step in leveraging technology to enhance collaborations for investigative journalism.

The project is supported with 4 900 000 SEK

What the project delivers

Developing, testing and rolling out several key features that will give journalists’ new ability to dig deeper into documents together with colleagues from around the world, resulting in more accurate and newsworthy findings.

Why we support this project

By allowing journalists to cooperate across borders and highlight issues such as corruption and international crime, the project helps maintain democratic systems around the world.
