Stepping Forward – A Training and Production Program for Young Artists in Lebanon

Approximately one and a half million refugees are located in Lebanon. The living conditions are pressing, since international support has not increased in the same extent as refugees fleeing their homes in Syria. Many come to the realization that they have to stay in Lebanon for a longer period of time, whilst hostility against them in Lebanon rises.

Employment opportunities for Syrians in Lebanon are limited to manual work and low-pay positions, and do not entail any legal or insurance coverage, there are also limited psychological and social support within the settlements. However, due to the volatile situation in other parts of the region, there is a growing arts production scene in Lebanon, which might provide interesting work opportunities for Syrian artists. In this project, Action for Hope will train young Syrian artists in theater, music and film-making to a level that enables them to work professionally, and introduces them to a wider audience.
