Strengthen Leaders to Resist Segregation
In Sweden there are several districts where a large number of residents experience exclusion due to unemployment, dependence on support, insecurity, or health issues. In this project, the Basketball Federation will develop a leadership program for young adults living in socio-economically vulnerable areas, as well as evaluate how sport organizations in these areas can work to engage more children and young people. The youth participating in training programs are connected to a variety of sport organizations working with for example, basketball, boxing, skateboarding, or volleyball.
The training will address equality, self-esteem, and children’s rights issues. Participants are strengthened in their leadership skills, and how to serve as role models for children and young people, which in turn has an impact on overall community life.
