Systems Change Partnerships
Approximately 90% of the world’s youth live in low and middle income countries. Often the well-being and mental health of these young people is not a priority. In South Africa, for example, only one in ten receive the support they need, and many of those who do not receive help, drop out of school or become unemployed. It is therefore important to invest resources at an early stage.
In this project, the Isiqalo Foundation Trust (also known as Waves for Change) wants to combine sports activities with psychosocial and trauma-awareness elements that increase the well-being of young people and their mental health.
The project is supported with SEK 3,280,000.
What does the project deliver?
The project is divided into two phases:
- – In phase 1, leaders and coaches undergo a twelve-month training program. The program begins with a week-long training where the organizations design a pilot project that is in line with the project’s methodology. Presentation of outcomes and lessons learned to local health care providers and government representatives will be presented at the end of the pilot.
- – In phase 2, the organizations receive continued support in the form of a digital education platform and are assigned a mentor.
Why do we support this project?
The project combats a social challenge through sports.
